Remembering 9/11: A Talk by John Henshaw, OSHA Administrator during the Bush Administration
Tuesday, September 09, 2025
This online talk is available via Zoom or the Finger Lakes TV network.
FLCC will mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a speaker from the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute, created to share the stories of emergency workers and others who responded.
John L. Henshaw, a worker safety and health professional, will speak online on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m.
The U.S. Senate had just confirmed him as assistant secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration a month before the attacks. He served with OSHA through December 2004.
Henshaw is currently president of John Henshaw and Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in environmental and occupational health and safety. He is a volunteer speaker for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 9/11 Institute, teaching students and adults about the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Tunnel to Towers was founded to honor Stephen Gerard Siller, a firefighter with Brooklyn’s Squad 1, who responded to the attack but could not drive past the Brookly Battery Tunnel. He strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he died while saving others.
